Privacy Policy

FuelFairy helps Australian drivers find cheaper fuel. It is operated by AVAMM Group Pty Ltd (ABN 39 647 157 131) (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the FuelFairy app and website (fuelfairy.com.au) handle, and is written to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

In short: FuelFairy has no accounts and no sign-in. We don’t ask for your name, email or phone number, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use advertising or analytics trackers. Your location is used to show nearby prices and isn’t stored, unless you choose to submit a fuel price or report.

1. Information we handle

Your location. If you allow it, the app uses your device’s location to centre the map and show nearby stations. To load prices, the app sends our server the area of the map you’re viewing. We don’t keep a record of your location or movements.
Searches. When you search for a suburb, postcode, address or trip destination, the text you type is sent to our server, which looks it up with Google (see section 3). We don’t store your searches.
An anonymous app ID. On first launch the app creates a random ID (not linked to your name, email or device identifiers). We store it with your referral count and whether you have an ad-free reward, so those features work.
Fuel prices and reports you choose to submit. In VIC, SA, ACT and NT you can submit a pump price or report that a fuel is unavailable. When you do, we store the submission with your anonymous app ID, your location at that moment, how far you were from the station and how long you were nearby. We use this to check submissions are genuine and to prevent spam. Submitted prices are shown to other users without any identifying information.
Technical logs. Like most online services, our hosting provider records basic request logs (such as IP address, time and the request made) for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for a limited period.

2. Information that stays on your device

Your home address (if you set one), preferred fuel type, brand filter, navigation app, theme and other settings are stored only on your device. Daily fuel tips are scheduled on your device; we don’t collect a push notification token. Uninstalling the app removes this information.

3. Service providers

We use these providers to run FuelFairy. Each receives only what it needs for its function:

Railway hosts our server; Supabase hosts our database.
Google (Places and Routes APIs) receives search text, map locations and trip start and end points from our server so we can find places and plan routes. Your app ID is not sent to Google. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Government fuel price feeds (NSW FuelCheck, Queensland Fuel Prices, WA FuelWatch and Service Victoria) supply station and price data. We send them no information about you.
Apple and Google distribute the app and show the in-app rating prompt, under their own privacy policies.
On our website, map imagery is loaded from OpenFreeMap, map software from unpkg.com, and fonts from Google Fonts. These services receive your IP address when your browser requests them. The website uses no cookies; it remembers your chosen fuel type in your browser’s local storage.

4. Overseas storage

Our servers and database are hosted in Singapore, and some providers above are based in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Australia. We choose providers that protect data in transit (TLS) and at rest.

5. What we don’t do

We don’t sell or rent your information.
We don’t show ads or use advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs.
We don’t build profiles of you or track you across other apps or websites.

6. Access, correction and deletion

You can ask to access or correct information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@fuelfairy.com.au. Because FuelFairy has no accounts, we may need details of a submission (station, date and time) to find it. If you’re not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

7. Children

FuelFairy is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as FuelFairy changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and significant changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
